Entertainment Licensing

Building Services have a responsibility to licence premises which provide entertainment as defined by The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (NI) Order 1985.

Places requiring a licence may include: ~

• Church Halls,
• Community Centres,
• Schools,
• Pubs & Restaurants,
• Social & Recreation Clubs.

There are two main types of licence, Indoor and Outdoor.

Indoor includes: ~

• Theatrical performances
• Music, singing, and dancing
• Circuses
• Boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, similar sport or darts
• Machines for entertainment or amusement
• Snooker or pool

Outdoor includes: ~

• Entertainment that will take place in the open air and on private land (and is of a musical nature).

To apply for a licence a copy of the application form can be downloaded (please note you are required to submit three copies). These should be submitted to Building Services with the appropriate fee and relevant documentation.

Petroleum Licensing

Under the Petroleum (Regulation) Acts (NI) 1929, the keeping of more than 3 gallons of petrol which is dispensed by a pump must be authorised by a licence and must comply with any conditions attached to the licence. Building Services are responsible for ensuring that all filling stations are licensed.

The following fees are applicable when applying for a Petroleum Licence: ~

Cinema Licensing

Premises used for the public exhibition of films are required to be licensed under the Cinema (NI) Order 1991. Building Services are responsible for ensuring that the premises are licensed to enable patrons to enjoy facilities in a safe and comfortable environment.
