Recycling

Kerbside Collection

The kerbside collection is operated on behalf of the Council by Bryson Recycling.

Each household is supplied with a black kerbie box and a red kerbie box.

There is no limit to the number of boxes that can be left out for collection. Overflow bags of recyclables will also be accepted, but should be bagged by type.

Boxes should be left out on the kerbside by 07.00 on the morning of collection.

Additional / Replacement Boxes

Additional and replacement boxes can be requested by contacting ES Admin on 028 9335 8083 or email wastemanagement@carrickfergus.org

Compost Bins

Compost Bins can be purchased from Carrickfergus Borough Council (ES Admin in Civic Centre, 11 Antrim Street, Carrickfergus) for a cost of £15.00, or alternatively you can send a cheque (made out to Carrickfergus Borough Council) and a Compost Bin will be delivered to your property. Compost bins can also be purchased on line at www.carrickfergus.org/online-services.

Recycling Facilities

There are three recycling facilities within the Borough. The following materials can be recycled at each recycling point.

Household Recycling Centre, Sullatober - Glass (brown, green and clear); Cans; Textiles; Cardboard; Paper;Tetra Packs; Waste Oil (cooking and motor); Green Waste; Plasterboard; Car Batteries; Fluorescent Tubes; Wood; Fridges and Fridge Freezers (household only); Scrap Metal; Paint; Gas Cylinders; Mobile Phones

Blackhead Car Park, Whitehead - Glass (brown, green and clear); Cans; Textiles; Paper; Cardboard and Tetra Packs

Textile Banks in partnership with Salvation Army can be found at the following locations:

  • Cable Filling Station, Belfast Road, Whitehead
  • Tesco Store, Minorca Drive, Carrickfergus
  • Woodside Supermarket, Joymount, Carrickfergus
  • Greenisland Presbyterian Church, Upper Road, Greenisland
